The UAS Program at UTA is embedded in a 3-credit hour course CE/AREN 4334 Drones and Advanced Construction Technology. This senior-year technical elective is designed to equip UTA’s students with the capability to use drones for construction applications on the job site. Besides the course overview and exam sessions in the syllabus, this course contains: (1) 12 drone theoretical lectures (18 hours) to cover the FAA’s Part 107 Knowledge Test content to help the students pass the test and obtain Remote Pilot License Certificates; (2) 12 drone practical sessions (18 hours) to train students using drones for construction applications; and (3) 5 lectures on other construction technologies closely related to drone applications such as VR simulation for drone operation.
