The Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) program at Radford University is offered as an interdisciplinary academic minor housed within the Artis College of Science and Technology. The curriculum provides students of all majors with comprehensive training in drone operations, safety regulations, and specialized data interpretation. Through targeted coursework like UAS 107 and UAS 307, students gain hands-on flight experience and prepare to earn their FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification. Additionally, the program works in tandem with the RU Geohazard and Unmanned Systems Research Center to involve undergraduates in cutting-edge research projects, from aerial mapping to disaster surveillance.
