Course Description

In this activity provided by the Unmanned Aircraft System operations Technician Education Program (UASTEP), students will be introduced to a multispectral sensor that can be used with a drone or unmanned aircraft system. In addition, students will analyze multispectral data from the sensor by using a variety of geoprocessing tools found in the ArcGIS Pro software package. Specifically, students will perform unsupervised classification, definition queries, areal calculations, and also calculate basic summary statistics for the study area.

The UASTEP projects is a collaboration between Palomar College and Southwestern College, as well as their partner high school districts, universities, and various industry partners. This project will not only increase the number of skilled UAS technicians in the workplace, but also seeks to foster interest in UAS among faculty members and students from different disciplines.
