Dr. Estevez is the Director of the School of Public Affairs Research Institute (SOPARI) and professor in the Department of Geography & Planning at St. Cloud State University. His research and experience focuses on survey research in the field of planning and urban economics.
Apart from his research and academic endeavors, Dr. Estevez is a planning commissioner for the City of St. Cloud in Minnesota and is a board member of organizations involved in community indicators and affordable housing. He is the current faculty liaison with the Minnesota chapter of the American Planning Association.
Previously, Dr. Estevez did research and taught at Texas A&M University, Dominican Republic, and Mexico. Former experience includes coordinator and professor of a master program in urban planning in Dominican Republic and Mexico. As a consultant he has also been involved with planning and housing projects in Mexico and Latin American countries. Dr. Estevez, a Fullbright scholar, earned his doctoral degree in urban and regional science from Texas A&M University, and his master’s degrees in urban planning from Texas A&M University and the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (National Autonomous University of Mexico).
