I have been a high school educator for 35 years. About ten years ago I became interested in drone technology as a platform for shooting video and photographs. I've always had an interest in Aviation especially when my son became a commercial pilot and now is an air traffic controller in Minneapolis. I began a high school Drone / UAS program at Roseville three years ago. In that time we now offer two courses and enrollment continues to grow each year. Our intro class allows students to learn more about drones, how to fly responsibly, and drone applications. In our 2nd level course students learn all the necessary information and skills needed to take the FAA Part 107 exam so they can become commercial drone pilots. Our classes now offer ten different drones students can fly, advanced flight training, college credit and to learn about career and business opportunities. Its been a truly amazing journey with that program. In my free time, I'm an avid model railroader, enjoy travel, photography and of course, flying drones. I've been an advocate for drone education and have shared my knowledge to numerous educators around the nation.
