Ben Richason III is a Professor of Geography and Executive Director of the Spatial Analysis Research Center (SARC) at St. Cloud State University. He obtained his Doctorate in Geography from Michigan State University in 1977. He has been working in the geospatial sciences for more than 40 years.
During this time, he has published two book chapters, professional articles and made numerous presentations on GIS and remote sensing techniques, as well as conducting state-wide and national workshops in Geospatial Science. He has served on the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium’s Board of Directors, is a Past President of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) and the Minnesota Association of Professional Soil Scientists (MAPSS).
He is presently the MnSCU representative on the MnGeo Statewide Geospatial Advisory Council. His research interests are in remote sensing analysis of soil landscapes with LiDAR and UAS, digital soil mapping and classification, and the mapping of archaeological site destruction in Iraq.
